This weekend is ripe with promise at the Elevation Room. Friday will give ear to the angelic highs of Alice Kos, the songbird antics of Amy van Keeken, and the Lethbridge indie-folkers The Utilities (whom ArgueJob.com has called “one of the most exciting young bands in Alberta”). It’s a surefire win! Saturday‘s line up is exactly what we had in mind as flourishing in the ER when we opened the venue. It is difficult to carve out a venue where a person can stand up with a guitar and play to a silent attentive room, somewhere where songs won’t be lost in the melee. This bill is stacked with folk heavy hitters: Mike McDonald of legendary punk band Jr. Gone Wild shares with us the rare pleasure of his solo folk tunes. Yer Bird / OLD UGLY recording artist Tyler Butler brings his uniquely minimal ethereal songwriting and OLD UGLY artist DoT plays his first show in quite some time. His post-folk smog-esque croak will warm the room. Don’t miss this flawless weekend. Doors at 8pm, Show at 8:30 sharp.
